Impressions from the "INVISIBLE SENSES" (NEMATOMI POJŪČIAI) Creative Workshops in Joniškis and Kuršėnai

I am delighted to share the moments from the "Invisible Senses" workshops held in Joniškis and Kuršėnai. During these workshops, participants created unique paintings using unconventional materials and incorporated sensory elements – touch, smell, and sound. This allowed them to view the creative process in a new light and express themselves through various senses.

In Joniškis, the creative activities involved members of the Lithuanian Blind and Partially Sighted Union's Joniškis branch, along with the community of the Jono Avyžiaus Public Library of Joniškis Municipality. The warm collaboration and active participation created a special atmosphere, for which I am deeply grateful.

Meanwhile, the second workshop in Kuršėnai brought together the community of the Public Institution "Day Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities" and representatives from the Vytautas Vitkauskas Public Library of Šiauliai District Municipality. During the workshop, participants explored not only their senses but also revealed how creativity can be a way to express emotions, share memories, or even overcome personal challenges. The use of various materials and sensory experiences helped create an engaging and therapeutic environment where everyone felt heard and accepted. This process also highlighted the importance of community – creativity fostered dialogue, understanding, and mutual connection.

The project "Differently Alike Connections" (Skirtingai vienodų suARTėjimai) invites us to discover the unifying power of art and to create together, regardless of our differences. It is a space where everyone can reveal themselves, share their unique experiences, and contribute a piece of themselves. The creative process not only connects people but also serves as a tool to strengthen mutual understanding, empathy, and unity. The workshop participants created works that reflected their feelings, memories, and personal stories. This project demonstrates that art can be a universal language that helps create bonds between people with different experiences and brings them closer through shared creation.
